The Return of the Victoria's Secret Show! An Inside Look at the Runway Spectacle with Confetti
Victoria’s Secret Returns: A Bold Celebration of Inclusivity, Iconic Faces, and Spectacular Runway Glamour

Tonight marked the return of the Victoria's Secret catwalk show after a six-year break, and it was impossible to avoid hitting a supermodel while wearing a Push Up Shine Strap Bra. The biggest names continued to appear at Brooklyn Navy Yard following a fashion month that was relatively devoid of high-profile casting events. The Hadid sisters, Anok Yai, Imaan Hammam, and He Cong represented the current generation of It Girls, while the original Angels, such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Doutzen Kroes, and Behati Prinsloo, strapped on their wings once more.

The most surprising casting decision? It's none other than Kate Moss, who debuted at the age of 50 on the Victoria's Secret runway tonight. As the lingerie brand works to fulfil its promise to portray a more varied and inclusive perspective, she was joined by Carla Bruni (56), Tyra Banks (50), and Eva Herzigova (51). It's clear that this change is appreciated because Paloma Elsesser, who is still one of the few curve models who consistently appear on the Fashion Week runway, Ashley Graham, and the trans model Alex Consani received some of the night's greatest applause.

The show appeared different in this way. In others, it was the same feathered, glittery spectacle that fans would recall from its prime. If Lisa Victoria's explosive opening act hadn't made that obvious, then Gigi Hadid's arrival—a sight to behold in a pink satin teddy, heels with straps that snaked their way to mid-calf and a truly enormous pair of mechanically operated pink wings—certainly did. Lisa emerged draped over a motorbike and lunched into her hit song, 'Rockstar' Before starting down the runway, the 29-year-old gave the crowd, which included Cardi B and Phoebe Dynevor on the front row, a wink and a kiss.

Following that, a series of well-known models (Joan Smalls, Irina Shayk, and Lila Moss) put the audience at serious risk of whiplash when mixed with the musical guests. The brand had gone all out to make a big splash with this comeback, including hiring not one but three major artists (Lisa, Tyla, and later the icon herself, Cher) to perform during the show and transporting showgoers to Brooklyn on a Victoria's Secret-branded boat at golden hour, fuelled by tiny bottles of Moet and scoops of Tyra's own Smize & Dream ice cream. The iconic pink of the lingerie brand was even used to illuminate the Empire State Building.

Backstage on the morning of the performance, a delighted Jill Kortleve declared, "It's a beautiful moment." "Being here to celebrate all different body types is amazing." Paloma agreed, stating that the company's attempts to reach a wider audience are "completely genuine." She remarked, "It feels like a wonderful moment to [celebrate] different women, who have different bodies and are in different stages of their lives."

Another newcomer, Ashley Graham, who was seated a few makeup chairs away, remarked, "I never really watched the Victoria's Secret runway shows." "As everyone is aware, it never really catered to women my size."Now that it's had a breath of fresh air, it feels like a new Victoria's Secret. I see girls who look like me back here, and even better, they look completely different from me. That is the modern fashion industry's beauty.
