All About Eid 2025: Your Guide to UAE Public Holidays!
From extended Eid Al Fitr celebrations to a long weekend for Eid Al Adha, here’s your go-to guide for 2025’s public holidays in the UAE
The new year is here (seriously, where does the time go?), and there’s no better moment to start mapping out your time off for 2025. With Eid Al Fitr right around the corner and some other tantalizing breaks on the horizon, let’s dive into what you need to know to make the most of this year’s holidays.
When Is Eid Al Fitr 2025?
The UAE government has confirmed we’ll enjoy at least three official days off for Eid Al Fitr this year, with a fourth day if Ramadan runs for a full 30 days. So, what’s the calendar looking like?
- Ramadan Start - Astronomers predict Ramadan will begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
- Eid Al Fitr Start - If Ramadan lasts 29 days, Eid Al Fitr kicks off on Sunday, March 30, translating into a glorious four-day weekend.
- Bonus Day Off - If Ramadan stretches to 30 days, Eid will begin on Monday, March 31, giving you an enviable five-day break.
As always, the exact dates depend on lunar sightings, so keep an eye out for official announcements closer to the time.
What About the New Holiday Resolution?
Here’s a handy tip for planning: A new UAE resolution effective in 2025 states that if a public holiday falls on a weekend, it’ll roll over to a weekday. But, heads up—this doesn’t apply to Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha.
Winter Ramadan = Likely 30 Days
With Ramadan now falling in the winter months (until 2031), there’s a good chance we’ll see a 30-day month. Why? Cloudy skies during winter often make moon sightings trickier. So, brace yourself for the longer break—because who doesn’t love an extra day to celebrate?
Eid Al Fitr: A Quick Refresher
The ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan, is concluded on Eid Al Fitr, or the "Feast of Breaking the Fast." Taking place on the first of Shawwal, it's an occasion to meet, feast, and thank sincerely.
Mark Your Calendars for Eid Al Adha
The second major festival of the year is just as exciting:
- Arafat Day - Expected on Friday, May 30, 2025.
- Eid Al Adha - Rolling from Saturday, May 31, to Monday, June 2.
That’s another four-day weekend to look forward to—perfect for a family getaway or a relaxing staycation.
Maximize Your Holidays
2025 is full of chances to create treasured memories, whether it's relaxing on the beach with a drink in hand or taking in the festive atmosphere with loved ones. Make the most of every long weekend by starting your planning today!
