The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is set to commemorate a significant milestone—its 10th season—with a spectacular lineup of 55 performances under the theme "Looking Back and Looking Forward." This season promises a blend of returning favorites and innovative new acts, reflecting the center's ongoing commitment to fostering creativity and artistic excellence in the UAE.
The season kicks off with a world premiere by Reem Almenhali and Ahmed Almadloum, Hamour Doesn’t Leave the Cubicle. Also making their UAE debuts are artists like Gaye Su Akyol and futuristic Congolese/French collaboration KOKOKO!, among others. In addition, returning artists such as the Trisha Brown Dance Company will showcase new works, reaffirming the center's role as a hub for artistic innovation and intercultural dialogue.
Over the past decade, The Arts Center has been instrumental in commissioning 46 new works, presenting 20 world premieres, and introducing 86 UAE debuts. The upcoming season will also highlight NYUAD alumni, including Almenhali, who returns with a piece commissioned by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF).
Bill Bragin, the Executive Artistic Director of The Arts Center, emphasizes the center's role in both the international and local arts landscapes. "As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we reflect on a decade of memorable collaborations that have positioned us as an international leader while also playing a vital role in developing the UAE’s arts landscape," Bragin said.
The 10th season promises to be a celebration of creativity, diversity, and artistic excellence, setting the stage for the next decade of cultural enrichment in the UAE.
