The Top Fashion Moments at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet

Lights, camera, action! The 2025 Cannes Film Festival dazzled with its two-week celebration, as stars flocked to the 78th annual event to showcase their glamour

On May 12, the Grand Théâtre Lumière hosted the much-anticipated opening ceremony, which was made even more special by the presence of Robert De Niro, who was presented with the honorary Palme d'Or by Leonardo DiCaprio. A host of stars including Julia Garner, Eva Longoria, Bella Hadid, and many more graced the iconic red carpet, showing off their most glamorous looks to mark the festival’s launch. As one of the most luxurious and prestigious film festivals globally, Cannes has always been a hotspot for couture fashion—though, over the years, some stars have challenged the formal dress code with more daring choices.

The jury, consisting of talents like Halle Berry, Juliette Binoche, Jeremy Strong, and Leila Slimani, along with emerging filmmakers, industry veterans, and bold personalities, all attended the premieres and screenings that filled the festival. This year, Iranian director Jafar Panahi made a triumphant return with It Was Just an Accident, which won the prestigious Palme d'Or, while Harris Dickinson made his directorial debut with Urchin and Jennifer Lawrence garnered praise for her captivating performance in Die, My Love.

Despite the updated dress code, it didn’t stop a variety of bold and experimental fashion choices from gracing the Croisette and the grand staircase of the Louis Lumière Theater. As Cannes bids adieu for another year, take a look at what your favorite stars wore on the red carpet, and don’t forget to check out our list of the best-dressed celebrities.
