Inside Dubai’s New Summer Social Space
Al Huzaifa transforms its Al Wasl flagship into a summer destination for vinyl, matcha, creative workshops and slower, more intentional days in Dubai

The hottest months were once associated with empty calendars, quieter streets and a temporary pause in the city’s social life. Now, instead of waiting for cooler weather, Dubai is creating new reasons to stay. Events move indoors, retail spaces become more experiential, and air-conditioned venues take on the role usually reserved for cafés, galleries and cultural hubs.
This season, Al Huzaifa is becoming part of that shift with Summer Lounging: A State of Mind, a programme transforming its Al Wasl flagship into a destination for design, music, creativity and wellbeing.
Rather than treating the showroom as a place people visit only when searching for a new sofa or dining table, the initiative invites guests to experience the space in a more relaxed and personal way.

A Showroom Designed to Be Lived In
Furniture showrooms are traditionally built around observation. Visitors walk through carefully arranged interiors, consider materials and colours, and imagine how each piece might look inside their own homes.
Summer Lounging takes a different approach.
Guests are encouraged to spend time within the interiors rather than simply view them. They can sit down, listen to music, take part in a workshop, enjoy matcha or meet friends in an environment that feels closer to a contemporary social lounge than a conventional retail space.
The concept reflects a simple idea: good design is not only about appearance. It can shape how people feel, communicate and slow down.
By placing real experiences inside the showroom, Al Huzaifa demonstrates how interiors can support everyday rituals, from sharing a drink to listening to music or making something by hand.
Vinyl, Matcha and Slow Afternoons
The programme launched on July 15 with an event combining movement, music and matcha.
Two collaborations remain at the centre of the experience throughout July and August.
The Listening Lounge by Raw Music Store brings a curated selection of vinyl records into the flagship, giving visitors an opportunity to discover music while spending time in the surrounding interiors.
The Matcha Experience by SUKAR adds a hospitality element to the space, encouraging guests to pause, order a drink and enjoy the atmosphere without rushing.
Together, the two concepts create a setting that feels intentionally slower than much of Dubai’s fast-paced lifestyle.
It is a place to finish an entire record, have a conversation without checking the time or simply enjoy being somewhere that does not require a packed schedule.

A Creative Summer Programme
Summer Lounging will also feature a selection of creative and wellbeing-focused activities.
The programme includes Ikebana, pottery, breathwork, matcha-making sessions, essential oil workshops and creative conversations.
These experiences are not presented as separate additions to the showroom. Instead, each activity is designed to interact naturally with the surrounding space.
A pottery session becomes an example of how interiors can support creativity. A breathwork class shows how lighting, furniture and atmosphere can influence a feeling of calm. A floral workshop introduces a new way of looking at colour, proportion and composition.
The result is an environment where visitors can participate rather than simply browse.

The Changing Role of Luxury Retail
Summer Lounging also reflects a broader change in the way physical retail spaces are being used.
As products become easier to explore and purchase online, showrooms increasingly need to offer something beyond a transaction. Atmosphere, community and real-world interaction cannot be recreated through a product page.
For Al Huzaifa, the answer is to make the showroom itself part of the experience.
The brand is positioning design as a backdrop for culture and connection, creating a space where guests can understand not only how an interior looks, but how it can affect the mood of a morning, an afternoon or a conversation.
This approach turns retail into something more flexible. A showroom can also become a listening room, a workshop space, a meeting point or a temporary escape from the heat.

A Different Kind of Dubai Summer
Dubai is not trying to ignore its summer weather. Instead, the city is becoming increasingly creative about what indoor life can offer.
Summer Lounging captures that new seasonal mood: less urgency, more intention and a stronger focus on experiences that bring people together.
For visitors, that might mean discovering a new record, learning the art of Ikebana, making pottery, sharing matcha with a friend or simply spending an unhurried afternoon in a beautifully designed setting.
Summer Lounging: A State of Mind continues at Al Huzaifa’s Al Wasl flagship. The Listening Lounge by Raw Music Store and the Matcha Experience by SUKAR will be available throughout July and August.
