Fly Over Abu Dhabi: Air Taxis Take Off in 2025

Skip traffic in style with Archer Aviation's electric air taxis—fast, safe, and priced like a premium ride, starting at AED 300

Prepare to take to the skies above Abu Dhabi! By the end of 2025, you will be able to avoid traffic and travel through the city in elegance with Archer Aviation's air taxis.

These stylish electric flying taxis promise an exciting, traffic-free way to explore Abu Dhabi and beyond, with prices equivalent to luxury vehicle excursions.

What’s the Price for a Ride?

For short inner-city trips, expect to pay between AED 300 to AED 350. Considering the amount of time that will be saved, what may seem like a premium price is really a bargain in disguise. Now you'll be flying through the air in 20 to 30 minutes as opposed to an hour crawling through traffic, reaching your destination faster and with less hassle.

Longer Journeys?

A ride between Abu Dhabi and Dubai will cost around AED 800 to AED 1,500. It’s not exactly pocket change, but for the speed, comfort, and thrill of flying, it’s a reasonable price to pay. Plus, the time saved on a trip that usually takes an hour or more by car is priceless.

Meet the Midnight eVTOL Aircraft

The air taxis will be powered by Archer's Midnight eVTOL aircraft. In terms of style, this sleek, electronic vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle can carry up to four passengers, as well as a pilot, to get where you need to go safely, at a top speed of 241 km/h.

For instance, it will just take five to eight minutes to get from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Emirates Palace. It's simple to understand why these flying taxis are such a revolution when you contrast that with the average 45-minute vehicle commute.

Safety First

With electric air taxis, the first priority is safety. In order for passengers to be always guaranteed safety, the Midnight aircraft was built with a lot of redundancies. The airplane has up to a dozen electric propellers as a basic redundancy feature. So don't worry; In case one of the propellers fails, the taxi can still land safely.

Archer Aviation intends to begin commercial operations by late 2025 or early 2026 after obtaining final permissions from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The Future of Air Travel in the UAE

In addition to providing a distinctive means of transportation, Archer Aviation's air taxi service will also be setting up Abu Dhabi as the global hub for this new form of transportation. These may eventually cost no more than a traditional taxi or an Uber ride as operations become more efficient.

Nikhil Goel, the chief commercial officer at Archer Aviation, said, “We’re in the final stages of FAA approval, and with our ongoing process with the GCAA, we’re on track to launch by the end of 2025 or the start of 2026.”

The Bottom Line
In Abu Dhabi, air taxis will soon be available and will revolutionize transport. You may easily travel within the city and even between cities with airfares starting at about AED 300. Additionally, you may experience the excitement of flying with peace of mind thanks to the Midnight eVTOL aircraft's safety features.
