Dubai Run 2024 Breaks Records with Over 278,000 Runners

When it comes to iconic events, Dubai truly made history as H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, led an incredible 278,000 runners in the Dubai Run 2024. With participation up by an impressive 23% from last year, Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai became electric hubs of fitness, energy, and celebration.

A Global Celebration of Fitness

Runners of all ages and abilities united, donning signature green event shirts to create an inspiring scene along the 10 km and 5 km routes. The event’s atmosphere kicked off with a parade of Dubai Police supercars, live music by DJs and a surprise appearance by international R&B star Jason Derulo, who engaged with the crowd before joining the race.  

Along with thousands of eager runners, notable individuals including former Paralympian swimmer Jessica Smith, basketball player Fadi El Khatib, and football great Bacary Sagna also took part.

Entertainment and Landmarks  

The 5 km circuit provided a family-friendly walk through Downtown Dubai, where you could see the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera, while the 10 km route followed the famous Sheikh Zayed Road. Marching bands, popular mascots like Modesh, Dana, and even Super Mario, as well as live performances by African drummers, added flair to the occasion.

A Message of Health and Unity

Sheikh Hamdan, who closed out the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2024, hailed the occasion as an example of Dubai's commitment to a more connected and healthy community. "Dubai Run is a testament to the power of community and the determination of the people of the city to lead healthier and more active lives," he said.

Post-Run Fun

After their morning workout, runners took advantage of early openings at neighboring F&B establishments in the DIFC and Dubai Mall to refuel.

With its combination of entertainment, community, and fitness against the background of Dubai's famous cityscape, the Dubai Run, a flagship event started by Sheikh Hamdan in 2017, is still one of the city's most anticipated events.
