Dubai Design Week 2025 Is Coming, And It’s All About Community
From immersive art to courtyard dreams, here’s everything we know so far about Dubai’s biggest design celebration this November

Mark your calendars: Dubai Design Week 2025 is back for its 11th edition from November 4 to 9 at the ever-buzzing Dubai Design District (d3). This year promises to be one for the books, with a packed lineup of exhibitions, competitions, and immersive experiences, all wrapped around a powerful central theme: Community.
Rooted in the UAE’s Year of Community initiative, this edition flips the lens on design as more than just innovation. It’s about connection, collaboration, and collective care. Whether you're an architect, artist, or just a curious wanderer, here's everything you need to know about what's coming to life at d3 this fall.

A Theme That Touches Everyone: “Community”
This year's theme is bold in its simplicity: Community. Design will be explored as a language of inclusion, empathy, and shared space. Expect ideas that rethink how we live together, create together, and care for one another. It’s a celebration of design as a social glue, not just sleek surfaces and stylish forms.
Urban Commissions: Redesigning the Courtyard
The Urban Commissions competition returns with a brief that couldn’t be more symbolic: Courtyard. Designers and architects are invited to reimagine this traditional Middle Eastern concept, not just as a physical space, but as a thriving hub of interaction. Think bold, interactive, and deeply rooted in cultural heritage, but aimed at future communities.
Abwab 2025: “In the Details”
Abwab (which means doors in Arabic) is swinging wide open this year. The 2025 theme, In the Details, invites designers from across West, South, and East Asia, and Africa to dive into the intricacies of storytelling through craft. This is where regional heritage meets cutting-edge design in tactile, immersive spaces filled with narrative and nuance.
Exhibitions, Installations & Workshops: Dive In, Hands First
Design lovers, brace yourselves. This year's exhibitions will be more diverse than ever, with schools, collectives, and solo creatives showcasing works that blur the boundaries between design, culture, and materiality.
Outside, installations will transform d3 into an open-air gallery of futuristic ideas, featuring inclusive and sustainable public spaces brought to life by top global and local minds. At Maker Space, workshops for all ages will invite visitors to roll up their sleeves and get hands-on with the creative process.
And don’t miss the marketplace, a colorful bazaar of regional talent with one-of-a-kind pieces, plus food, music, kids’ activities, and live performances that’ll keep the vibes going all day.
Downtown Design: Where Global Meets Local
From November 5 to 9, Downtown Design is where the design industry’s biggest names and boldest newcomers come together. This is where you’ll catch Tom Dixon’s Dubai debut, boundary-pushing installations, and headline-making brand collaborations that blend storytelling with style.
Editions Art & Design: Limited Edition, Unlimited Impact
Back by popular demand from its successful 2024 launch, Editions Art & Design returns November 6–9, with a preview on the 5th. Expect fifty-plus galleries, studios, and artist collectives showcasing collectable design, ceramics, prints, and photography. Whether you're a seasoned collector or new to the scene, this fair is designed to surprise and delight at every price point.
d3 Architecture Exhibition: Building for Belonging
Organized by d3 in collaboration with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), this exhibition explores architecture’s role in shaping shared environments. Tied beautifully to the community theme, the show will explore how buildings, public spaces, and urban infrastructure can foster connection, openness, and sustainability.
What’s Next?
The only thing left to drop is the full list of participants, and you can bet we’re watching closely. With names like TukTukDum, Altqadum, Ithra, DEOND, Future Bedouin, Tashkeel, and Consentino already in the mix, it’s shaping up to be the creative event of the year.
Final Thoughts:
If there’s one event that captures the spirit of design as a unifying force, it’s Dubai Design Week 2025. From courtyard reimaginings to artistic deep dives into the details, this year’s programming promises moments of awe, curiosity, and connection. Whether you're there to create, discover, or just soak it all in, you’re part of the community too.
