Beyoncé Spills All in Rare Interview
Beyoncé opens up about her new trilogy, Blue Ivy’s artistic talents, her shift from music videos, and what’s on her playlist—plus, her exciting new venture into spirits!

Beyoncé - a powerhouse on stage, an icon of our time, a music catalog without any missteps. But an interview? These are few and far between. However, Queen Bey bucked the trend and sat down with GQ to talk about her latest trilogy, her talented daughter Blue Ivy, and her newest venture into the spirits industry with SirDavis. She even gave us a sneak peek at her playlist and some of her favorite TV shows! Spoiler alert: she's a House of the Dragon fan. Here's all you need to know from that extremely rare chat.

Beyoncé’s Musical Evolution: The Three-Album Trilogy
Beyoncé’s ongoing three-album trilogy, which started with Renaissance and continued with Cowboy Carter, reflects the musical diversity that has always been her hallmark. In the interview, she highlighted how her genre-bending approach has shaped her career.
“From the start of my career and on every album, I have always mixed genres,” she said. “Whether it is R&B, Dance, Country, Rap, Zydeco, Blues, Opera, Gospel, they have all influenced me in some way. I have favorite artists from every genre you could think about. I believe genres are traps that box us in and separate us. I’ve experienced this for 25 years in the music industry. Black artists, and other artists of color, have been creating and mastering multiple genres, since forever.”
Beyoncé's goal is simple: to introduce her listeners to a wider world of Black talent that has often been underappreciated.
“This is why it was so important for me to sample the composer Joseph Bologne, known as Chevalier de Saint-Georges, in the song ‘Daughter’ on Cowboy Carter,” she continued. “Violin Concerto in D Major, Opus 3, No. 1: II. Adagio was created in the 1700s. This is a testament to Chevalier’s vision. I hope it inspires artists, as well as fans, to dig deeper and learn more about the Black musical innovators who came before us. Some of the most talented artists never achieve the mainstream praise they deserve, especially when they defy the norm. I was so hyped to see a song like ‘Texas Hold ’Em’ gain worldwide acceptance. Even more exciting was how it helped reinvigorate the Country genre across music, fashion, art, and culture, and introduced the world to so much great talent like Shaboozey, Tanner Adell, Willie Jones, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy and Reyna Roberts."

Snubbed by the CMAs – Again!
While Cowboy Carter continues to dominate globally, it faced a major snub at the Country Music Awards. Beyoncé didn’t mince words when she hinted at the long road she's been on with this project, saying she began work on it five years ago. For a deeper look, she suggested fans “Pay close attention to my age in the lyrics of ’16 Carriages.’”

Blue Ivy: The Creative Star of the Carter Family
It looks like the Carter family creativity doesn’t stop at Beyoncé and JAY-Z. Their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, is already following in her parents' artistic footsteps. Beyoncé couldn't help but gush about her daughter’s natural talent.
“Blue is an artist,” she said. “She has great taste in music and fashion. She is a fantastic editor, painter, and actress. She has been creating characters since she was three. She’s a natural, but I did not want Blue onstage. Blue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously and she earned it. And most importantly, she had fun! We all watched her grow more and more every night before our eyes.”

Why Beyoncé’s Music Videos Are on Hold
For all those fans still begging for the visuals to Renaissance, Beyoncé made it clear that they might need to be patient. While she’s no stranger to producing jaw-dropping music videos, her latest creative direction is to let the music speak for itself.
“I thought it was important that during a time where all we see is visuals, that the world can focus on the voice,” she said. “The music is so rich in history and instrumentation. It takes months to digest, research, and understand. The music needed space to breathe on its own. Sometimes a visual can be a distraction from the quality of the voice and the music.”
So, while the world waits for those much-anticipated videos, Queen Bey wants everyone to fully absorb the sound.

Beyoncé’s Current Playlist and TV Binge List
Ever wondered what Beyoncé is jamming to in her downtime? She gave a shoutout to both emerging and established female artists, showing love to those making waves in the music industry.
“I love and respect all of the female singers-songwriters who are out right now.… Raye, Victoria Monét, Sasha Keable, Chloe x Halle, and Reneé Rapp. I love Doechii and GloRilla, and I just heard That Mexican OT, he’s from Houston…. He goes hard! I really like ‘Please Please Please’ by Sabrina Carpenter, and I think that Thee Sacred Souls and Chappell Roan are talented and interesting. I’m obsessed with my backseat baby…. I’m a Smiler,” she said, clearly having fun with her mix of tastes.
As for TV? Bey is currently hooked on House of the Dragon and The Chi. “The best movie I’ve seen this year is Inside Out 2. I think it’s brilliant.”

What’s Next for Beyoncé?
With the launch of her spirits brand, SirDavis, and the continued success of her three-album trilogy, it’s clear that Beyoncé is always evolving. Whether she’s shedding light on forgotten Black artists or encouraging the world to pause and truly listen to the music, Queen Bey is showing once again why she reigns supreme.
