Ancient Egypt Meets Runway Chic: The Azza Fahmy x Bokja Collab Is Pure Magic

From temple walls to silk threads, this cross-cultural fashion fusion turns heritage into haute couture with a pharaonic twist

When Egyptian jeweller Azza Fahmy opened her flagship boutique in Riyadh, she ensured that it was more than a shopping experience. Heritage, history, and beautiful design whispered through every detail. The most notable element? All the walls of the boutique were dressed in tapestries made by the Bokja Collective based in Beirut. Bokja is known for their audacious textile choices, and they used blue, earthy neutrals and gold accents to bring the colours and spirit of ancient Egyptian temples into the space.

The collaboration between Fahmy and Bokja didn’t stop at interiors. It sparked something much bigger.

From Walls to Wardrobes

This dynamic partnership has now evolved into fashion. The latest chapter is a ready-to-wear collection where Bokja’s textile mastery transforms historical Egyptian motifs into garments that look like art and feel like heirlooms.

Each work is influenced by temple murals and tomb reliefs and filled with layers of symbolic imagery. Think lotus flowers, sacred birds, patterns, etc., that once adorned the pharoahs and queens. The mark of Bokja's hand-stitched thread work introduces depth and texture and creates a near-sculptural effect on flowing silks.

A Meeting of Creative Minds

Behind the magic are three visionaries. Azza Fahmy brings decades of experience crafting jewellery steeped in symbolism, Arabic calligraphy and mixed-metal brilliance. Bokja founders Huda Baroudi and Maria Hibri, meanwhile, are artists of fabric, known for reimagining antique textiles and furniture with a rebellious spark.

“I love Huda and Maria, I love their spark of madness and how they break every rule,” Fahmy shares. “They were the first people I thought of. Who else could channel this kind of pharaonic-inspired energy?”

Their shared passion for cultural heritage, along with a deep respect for craftsmanship, forms the heart of this collaboration.

Wearable Heirlooms with a Message

This collection is more than just fashion. It is a celebration of identity, memory and art. Every piece is made to be treasured, worn and passed on to future generations. Just like Fahmy's jewellery, the garments are modern artifacts that tell timeless tales.

Regal prints, nods to nature and references to historic architecture all converge in a collection that bridges past and present. This is fashion that honors where we come from while reimagining where we’re going.

The Legacy Continues

Azza Fahmy x Bokja is not just a creative collaboration. It is a cultural dialogue stitched with care and bursting with meaning. With each silk thread and hand-carved detail, they remind us that beauty and heritage are forever entwined.

In a world racing forward, this collection invites us to pause, reflect and dress with intention. And maybe, just maybe, walk with a little more majesty.
